Hi everybody, I’m Luffio and this is my story of learning languages.
My current relationship with languages started in 2013, at age 26: one day, I got the idea to fix my pronunciation of the “R” sound: till then, I was unable to trill it like my fellow citizens because had never learned how to do that. So, I searched the Internet for some days and finally did it, all by myself: that’s how I found out that learning sounds is a natural gift I’ve got and realized I could try and learn languages, and here we come to my passion.
I’ve always loved learning languages at school, but in those days I didn’t care so much about learning on my own. Like many people in my country, I realized later that the way they taught me languages at school wasn’t very effective: I was really good at reading and writing, but my speaking and listening were broken. When I discovered my “gift”, I started re-learning the languages I knew with the help of videos and social networks and, since then, my languages have been getting better and better. Translating songs is also a way to get better at languages: I find it an efficient method as song lyrics are easy to get from the internet and songs stick easily in my mind.
My translation activity began with my Facebook page titled «Italian word plays and jokes explained in English» (link), that remained active for about a year before I started my new pages in 2015:
– Italian songs translated into English (where I translate songs from Italian into English);
– Songs translated into English (where I translate songs from any language I know into Italian).
I started this blog in 2020 on the heels of my Facebook pages, with a major difference: here I translate songs from any language to any language without restraint.
